I don't know how you're parsing your conf file, but
I'd check to make sure that $Path->{'real'}
doesn't include a trailing newline. As a practice,
when I'm printing out variables when debuging, I'll print
delimiters around the variable to make this easy to see.
For example, in this case something
like print "|", $Path->{'real'}, "|\n";.
If the second | ends up a line by itself,
the problem is clear. (And chomp is your friend).
That may not be what the problem is in your case, but
it's worth checking.

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
