I wish I had the time to go through and respond to each one of your questions, but it basically boils down to "use the appropriate tool at the appropriate time" and "pick one (or two) and go with that."

Why do there have to be winners? Why not just agree that we've all got lots of tools in our toolboxes (and more each day), and it's up to our creativity to put them together in new and interesting ways.
