( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

I just went though a very simmilar situaton, on my first post, nonetheless. I took offense to a comment another user made on my question, though I came to realize that had I been in the shoes of ikegami, I would have responded to my code the same way, it was an eyesore and needed the criticism. Maybe it was because of the stressful day I'd had, but it was still no excuse for me to lash out, and my sudden drop in XP was definitely warrented. Like you said, basicdez, no one is here to make me feel bad about coding, and the insight provided by more battle hardened veterans is invaluable to newbies like myself. Hopefully someday I can be the one to give advice, and until then, I'll be sure not to take anything too personally and absorb as much as I can. I'm very grateful to be part of a like-minded community of perl coders.

Thank you for helping me see the light,

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
