Or rather use strict; to catch this errror, even when in an IDE. I doubt any IDE implements it's own Perl, so it will have to rely on ouput from the underlying Perl installation, which in turn relies on you to tell it what to do.

<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
