I started with the the online chapters of the book, they are located at http://www.cgi101.com/class/. I agree with your cautious optimism. It is neat in the fact there are plenty of excercises available for us newbies to try until we are ready for the orielly cgi books.

<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
