Sure, you need an eval here to check whether the module was found and successfully loaded. You need the eval in the first case to interpolate the module name and turn it into a bareword, or not?

tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be

have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
