There is just one return list.

In the spirit of horrible solutions, you could pass the second one out-of-band. Right. But there's no sane reason to do that, is there?

So, in the spirit of insane solutions, have one more:

use strict; use warnings; sub getlists(\@\@); getlists( my @a, my @b ); print join(" ",@a),"\n",join(" ",@b); sub getlists(\@\@) { my ($foo, $bar) = @_; @$foo = (1,2,3); @$bar = (4,5,6); }

Most horrible yet? ;-)

print "Just another Perl ${\(trickster and hacker)},"
The Sidhekin proves Sidhe did it!

Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong>   <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
