In another post you said that you use MS SQL Server 2000 EXEC placeholders all the time. Perhaps you would like to show us examples of where it does work.

Tell us what modules do you use to connect to the database and their versions (DBI, DBD::ODBC / DBD::Sybase).

Tell us what operating system do you use and what version of MS SQL Server

As I have already said: MS SQL Server 2000. The operating system is Windows 2000. Ok.... that is the only thing that you did not know already.

• Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
