<li> tags don't have to be closed in HTML so why bother?
That's a booboo on my part. I'm thinking XHTML and everything needs to be closed properly. It's a good habit to get into (which I don't always bother with). Allowing optional end tags is stupidity, but quite valid in regular HTML.
Would you critise a Perl book for using $_ ?
What? You're comparing cheese and Wednesday here. The only way I can see what you're meaning is to assume that you're pointing out that both are valid. Other than that, I have no clue as to your point. Thanks for pointing out my initial error, though.
Cheers,
Ovid

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
