'maintained thru the server', if you mean does perl have an application server that has standard built in session managment then the answer is no. But As castaway points out all the building blocks are there on cpan and can be integrated into a mod_perl so u get exactly what u need.
This ties up nicely with a question i've been meaning to ask.
Does anyone know of anything perlish that is planned to meet the liberty alliance spec?

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
