Yes, adding things into current perl would be the idea. The thing I'm most hesitant about is the makemaker change...it would be nice to hear from someone that it doesn't break other win32 builds (not to mention unix ones, though testing with regular cygwin should expose any problems there).

Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
