This is a retake of the old "art vs science" debate. And I think you've hit the nail on the head. Its both. And thats what "craft" implies. The fusion of both. Not all programmers are craftspeople. Not all programmers are scientists or scientific about what they do. Not all programmers are artistic at all. So theres room for all three. But if you are a general purpose programmer who takes pride in your skills, and your trade, and your products, then I'd call you a craftsperson.
