While Date::Manip is large and slow and all things horrible ... Perl is large and slow and all things horrible too! If you're looking for execution speed, go to ASM. If you're looking for development speed, use the appropriate modules. Personally, I don't think the OP wanted the fastest solution. I believe he (and nearly everyone who posts on PM) is looking for the easiest solution. Both solutions are easy. Yours is easier in that it doesn't require learning how to use modules. Date::Manip is easier when the requirements change, like they always do. ------ Don't go borrowing trouble. For programmers, this means Worry only about what you need to implement.
