If you use your 'poetry' with the clear intent of getting your political message across, you are breaking one of the very few rules that keep this place together, and thus your node should not be allowed to stay.

Regardless of which message it bears.

Let me explain.

If you use a legitimate node to express your political views, you may be hurting somebody's feelings.

This is not about freedom of speech, it's about keeping provocation out of the door. What you call 'kindling' was nothing more than flame bait.

BTW, I happen to share your feelings about the US foreign politics. However, I don't like to mix up technical discussion and politics.

PerlMonks has a tradition of avoiding censorship, but it has also a tradition of trusting its people to respect each other.

By posting a political node disguised as a legitimate one, you are stretching the system, taking advantage of its kindness.

What was done is not censoring, since your node is still there, but the Monastery is reacting - in the most gentle manner - against your attempt to circumvent the rules.

You are forcing your view on other people kindness, forcing the Monastery to react to your lack of respect with some unexpected solution that shows both how you have been careless and how the system is fragile.

I am sorry to say that, and I wish I could find a gentler way for it, but you have abused the Monastery trust, and the Monastery is trying to tell you, as gently as it can, that your node is out of place.

The smartest thing you could do at this stage is to ask for your node to be reaped, so that you'd relieve everybody of this unnecessary burden.

Of course you can claim that freedom of speech must be preserved at all costs, and nobody would press the matter against you. But you would show much more respect for yourself and for the community if you just could recognize that you've made a mistake and wanted to fix it.
