This is not something one can resolve by "technology" alone.
To hide your source code does not stop pirating any way. Most of the time, they don't care your source code at all, what they want to steal is the functionality your code delivers. What they want is money without effort, to study your source code is too long a way to go.
Computer does not change the very nature of the human society. You go one step forward, your "friends" will go two steps forward.

<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
