I first had to think up a screen name while I was in
the dorms at university. I had just connected my new
computer to the network, and I had to pick a name for
the PC. I decided to pick a memorable character from
the recently completed Ringworld trilogy, by Larry Niven.
Then I found
Slashdot, and Kuro5hin, and started to spend quite a lot
of time online. I used my computer's name just for fun.
To make my life easier, and because it
seemed honest, I use the same nick at every site I join.
