You know that's fine. I am reluctant to help someone pollute the world with more advertising myself. But..

This message was originally written in a time when advertising was abundant and many things in the Internet World were free. When the pinheads finally got the message that there wasn't much gravy in the internet advertising world, a lot of funding dried up, and then a lot of free things started to disappear.

I'd like to recommend that every regular at PM make it a point to routinely visit the sponsor's ad and navigate around the sponsor site by choosing at least three links. Sponsors of this site annoy me only a little with banner ads. And the whole mass of wrong-headed things that are commonly believed in the advertising industry can wait for another rant (on another more appropriate, site).

...All the world looks like -well- all the world, when your hammer is Perl.

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
