I think we have the answer for this behavior. See the comment further down and this. It seems that the time the script starts is factored into the age of the file. Still trying to wrap my head around it, though. Seems weird.

<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
