"...Modern Perl seems like a nice book..." Yep - it really is. But don't forget the Camel Book. An all time classic and still a must-have IMHO. Subject of endless debates on Modern Perl seems to be the chapter about OO. At least i think so. Especially the section about Immutability: "....OO novices often treat objects as if they were bundles of records which use methods to get and set internal values. This simple technique leads to the unfortunate temptation to spread the object's responsibilities throughout the entire system..." But anyway: You need to jump to a conclusion. Read them all. Make it so.
