I should have had that in already! Thank you for the reminder. I did it just a tad differently, but the same result.
my $heading = q(Lady Aleena's collections);
my $collection_file = "$collections_dir/index.txt";
if ( $collection && grep { $collection eq $_ } @collections ) {
# I don't like the next line.
$heading = q(Lady Aleena's ).lc "$collection collection";
$collection_file = "$collections_dir/$collection.txt";
}
$collection_file =~ s/ /_/g;
open(my $collection_fh, '<', $collection_file) || die $!;
My OS is Debian 10 (Buster); my perl versions are 5.28.1 local and 5.8.8 on web host.
Version control is a non-issue, I do not use it.
No matter how hysterical I get, my problems are not time sensitive. So, relax, have a cookie, and a very nice day!

Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
