An interesting feature would be my views about another monk
I read that and wondered "why?" If I see a
monk's postings often enough to have a "view" of
them then I'll remember it and can keep it to myself.
If I make it something that is online and worse yet
viewable by the public I've just added troll food to the
site.
If a "view" of a monk is not going to be visible
then again " what's the point?" I can keep track
of how I feel about individual monks very well using the
Mark I Mod 0 brain that the {insert personal view of a
supreme being or creator here} gave me.

Eh, couldn't that be easily archieved by having a few files on your local box which you edit with your favourite editor?

Perhaps artist does not have a local box, and accesses PM from many different boxes and locations?
Considering his scratchpad discusses showing his Mozilla bookmarks, I find that unlikely. Unless he carries a floppy
disk or memory stick with his bookmarks - but then he could
use the same device to move his X-files about perlmonk authors around.
But there may be a handful of visitors that don't have their own box, nor any diskspace that they can claim their own. Do we have to add the proposed feature for them? Should perlmonks be a disk space provider? Because, IMO, that's what the request is about, asking for some diskspace that isn't shared with someone else. Private diskspace.

You may want to Google for web browsers that allow a user to annotate a web page. | [reply] [Watch: Dir/Any] |

Why not make it public? I can see 100's of posts like these being written:
"I love flyingmoose. He is so smart and witty and irrelevant and often he reminds me of mooses, which are funny. Especially flying mooses."
In other words, what's the point? There is no path. I can't trade in XP for a beach-towel, so there is no path or point. But hey, if someone wants to make a Camel-code beach towel, let me know!

I'll repeat others views that this sounds like 'using PMs disk space for private use', and I dont see the whyfor of it.
But still, you could easily simulate: Create your own page/site somewhere with notes on, or even local files, and add links to your personal nodelet for each monk you want to keep tracks of. That would be even more accessable than first having to go to their homenode, it would be reachable everywhere.

The only way I could give this idea a green light, is if the notes could be made public, just like the "testimonials" on Orkut. With the consent of the subjected monk, of course. | [reply] [Watch: Dir/Any] |

Like a fine monk (which name I forgot1) said in the CB the other day:
All scripts evolve till they're able to e-mail. All communities evolve till they look like Orkut.
I personally do not see any valid reason of why this should be a Perlmonks feature, for the simple fact that I couldn't care less about how monk A is thinking about monk B. And I don't think the general opinion on some monk should matter at all.
This will only lead, IMHO, to shameless flame-war type of postings. MS Windows vs *NIX, Emacs vs Vim, religion vs atheism etc.

Another monk had a similar idea (can't find it now) where you would be able to create 1-liner info about that monk and have it displayed at the top of their posts. The idea being that you could type in whatever you wanted to remember who the person really is. Examples: "Works at xyz corp..", "Maintains Acme::Foo", "Real name is 'Jim'", "This is the guy that wrote that really stupid rant about Perl", or something like that.
