Depends on how you interact with them. If you're
playing the politics to win allies and influence
policy, you're in trouble, of course, but if you're
playing *around* with politics, to learn stuff about
how they work, to analyze the psychology of them,
and to make observations and formulate models of
human behavior, then it's possible to stay detached.
