in thread Perl myths ?

Right now the Perl5 codebase has stopped being developed (at version 5.8.0)
Absolutely not true. 5.8.3 came out just a month ago, and work definitely continues on perl5. I don't see this changing any time soon.
Hell, didn't they just release a patch for 5.004?

What wrong having support for several stable branches?

AFAIK 5.9.1 is going to be released that is development for the stable future 5.10.0 release.

I think BUU's point was that Perl is so actively developed that there are releases even for old versions.
