It's listed under Yahoo!'s post popular stories (on the US site) They have Linux and Perl together but they describe the two as different entities. Larry Wall is credited for Perl, it says "Larry Wall took two programs called 'sed' and 'awk' and put together PERL, one of the most widely used scripting tools around.". Update: I removed the Yahoo! link because it was a reference to the same zd story the OP made.
