I think you are on the right track with using Practical mod_perl, this is actually the book I reference all the time and the book I recieved most of my experience from. UPDATE Also on a side note checkout Safari if you dont want to buy the book and look several books on the subject over you can just sign up for a free account and then browse if you do like what you see please sign up ;)
