Quick Note ordering Switches.

Depend upon the node and the content it may make sense to view either 'oldes first', 'newest first' or 'best first'. Quickly switching views for current-page in addition to default settings (in user-settings) or current settings, would serve better.

Logging out gives the option to view 'oldest first' by default, but I wouldn't prefer that route.

It would be nice, yes, to be able to click on a link that says "order nodes by <foo>", and get the nodes instantly reordered. However, I don't see how to do that without either complicated client-side scripting, which I don't feel like writing, or another server hit, and I'd prefer to minimize them.

I'd say adding this feature will minimize server hits. Switching the method how to order replies is already possible, except that it requires several server hits (go to user settings, change user settings, go to original page, then go back to the user settings, undoing the setting).

Not that I care whether such a feature is implemented - I always prefer threaded/oldest first sorting.

Ah, yes, but the current way is difficult enough that it serves as a deterrent from doing it at all. I suspect, then, adding the feature would create more load then it removes, and at the current state of the monestary, I'll take speed over useability.

Oh, BTW, have you seen Monastery NNTP Bridge? It's woefuly incomplete, but looks quite interesting, esp as you've often mentioned that you'd like such a thing. (I /msg'd you too, but you apparently don't read them.)

    Yes, that would be excellent.
Huh?

I assume that this is a continuation of a conversation that started somewhere else (or maybe its just Friday afternoon after a difficult week and I am not as sharp as I should be). Could someone provide a pointer to help me understand the context?

When you view a node here, you get the replies ordered by Oldest-First.

artist is asking for the ability to sort the replies when viewing them. (I assume)
