Link to current node

NB: Something similar to this appears to have been discussed in Refreshing the Current Node, and valdez apparently submitted a patch that apparently implements what I'm talking about.

A minor problem - when I've voted on a node, I get taken to index.pl without a node_id=123456. This means that to reload the current node (to check for new replies, for instance), I have to go back to e.g. The Monastery Gates, then navigate to the node again.

A proposed solution: include a link to the current node (by node_id) in the (print, w/ replies, xml) group at the top of each node. I believe that changing the "action" method for the vote! button to "index.pl?node_id=xxxxxx" rather than "index.pl" would allow you to click in your browser's address/location bar, then hit "enter". I believe that would work because HTTP POST would override the GET when voting, but that would appear to be a nasty hack to me, and it may not work across browsers.

The best solution that came up from Refreshing the Current Node was to hit the "talk" button in the Chatterbox. (Thanks again Nuke!) That reloads the current page. It won't help you figure out the node ID of the page you're looking at, but it's a decent fix and certainly better than going back to The Monastery Gates and then browsing back to the article. Valdez mentioned his patch was rejected. Not sure why, but that's the status of that.	[reply]

Yeah, I saw that option. The problem with that is it still doesn't give you a URL that you could cut-n-paste or bookmark - it still returns index.pl. Still a workaround, but hover your mouse over "`(print w/replies, xml)"` just below the node title/author at top for a cut-and-pastable URL. cheers, ybiC striving toward Perl Adept (it's pronounced "why-bick")	[reply]

BTW, as far as the last thing you mentioned, I've pointed that out to tye before. I don't agree with some of his points, but others (in purticular, I don't know that, or how, /all/ browsers will support it) are valid. I'd like to make it an option, and see how it works out, or make an easy way for people to test... perhaps next week. Warning: Unless otherwise stated, code is untested.
