Geez... A User's Bio. OK, here goes.
I no longer maintain or even own the above mentioned URL for HLPD. I'm not even employed by Gamespy (as it was). And unfortunately, I have opted not to use Perl for any of my websites at this time. Through a long and trying unfortunate turn of events, HLPD and my volunteer work with Gamespy was wrested from me and left a sour taste in my mouth for Gamespy and Half-Life in general. I maintain several sites now, none of which leverage Perl as the primary language. If you wish to visit at least one, it's easy to guess. It's my name plus .com. Have fun. :)
As for everything else about me, there isn't much to say. I'm a student of all languages. I try to suck up as many langauges as possible. My primary langauge is VB (There's just something sexy about slapping a GUI together in about 30 seconds) followed, in no particular order, by C, C++, Java, XML, HTML, Perl, SQL, and some other stuff I'm probably forgetting. Some people have this weird idea that I'm a Guru of sorts.... I would never call myself that. Everywhere I go, regardless of language, there is always some tidbit I find that I didn't know about. Gurus are the people that I ask. Gods are people who are Gurus whose names are known by even non-tech savvy people. Good examples include Linus Torvalds and Steve Wozniak. No, Bill Gates isn't a God, he's just a kick butt business man. |
