Hi, in my opionion it's a good place to start gathering experience with oop. I myself took several attempts with other languages as c++ or java. With c++ my problem was the insufficient knowledge of the basics of c. The java-attempt was to much academic. With perl things became easier for me. This was above all the quite simple realisation (so it affects me) of oop in perl. Classes aren't anything different as packages, objects are blessed data-structures, mostly hashes of a particular class, methodes are simple subroutines in packages(classes). This took away any esoteric imaginations i've had before and i was really astonished how easy object-orientated behavior could be realized in a script-language as perl is. Meanwhile i use my still growing oop-experience in real life applications with good success. Further development is due to perls flexibility relative simple. For studying more professional implementations i've a look in the CPAN. So from my point of view i can absolutly recommend perl for learning oop. Try man perltoot as a first step. greetings, tos
