Perl Monks: The Movie

by Anonymous Monk
on Jun 17, 2003 at 13:54 UTC ( [id://266477]=monkdiscuss: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

A little bird told me that Joel and Ethan Coen are preparing to make a movie about the Monastery. Zaxo posed a wonderful idea:

What movie star (or character) would you like to portray you?

Good alternate! Cusack is one of the coolest "real" people in film. Certainly underappreciated.

I'd go for John Cleese (mmm... no I don't like Python, but I like Monty Python ;)

And if that one is taken, I want Rowan Atkinson.

That wonderful movie has one of my all-time favorite quotes:
Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" -- she always called me Elwood -- "In this world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. And you may quote me.

    Mira Sorvino or Carrie-Anne Moss.

What, you think I want to see somebody that looks like me on the screen? I already see plenty of myself.

    Interesting idea.

Going on what someone in my office says half the time he sees me (the other half is surprise at running into me unexpectedly), probably a younger Butch Patrick, who played the character "Eddie Munster" on The Munsters during its run from 1964 to 1966. He says I remind him of the character from the show (which I'm not sure is such a good thing, since the kid resembled a werewolf-or maybe it is just the hours I keep).

I also get a lot from other people who say that I look like someone they've seen on TV (no, not at the post office), but they can't recall who.

    Denis Leary

Although he's older and a whole lot funnier than me.
I should mention that I probably just get a very, very, very tiny cameo as a CB-addict, and get killed, anyway.

Maybe I should just be played by an extra or do voice-overs in the animated start sequence ;)

I'd want Lurch ( Ted Cassidy ) from The Addams Family. That groan he used to do is *perfect* for those late night coding mistakes.

Plus I can't make light bulbs light up in my mouth, so Fester is out. :(

There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling now.

Definately Brad Pitt: You have a kind of sick desperation in your laugh, Fight Club.

Kinda fits sometimes when i'm stuck looking at code for house, and i'd love to be able to say it to someone else, rather than myself.

I've thought about this a little too much, and that worries me. Since all the good ones are taken or dead, I'll have to go with Woody Allen.

    Hummmm.

When Atlantis: The Lost Empire came out I was told that I looked, and occasionally acted like, Milo Thatch. Milo was voiced by Michael J. Fox, but I look nothing like him, *shrug*. If I had my choice, my glorious(heh) part would be played by Ryan. See this and this.

    He'd be known as:
The guy that just kinda lurks around and pops up every now and then with nothing really interesting to add.

It would be the role of a lifetime :).

More then one person said that I have the manerisms of Agent Smith. In fact one guy I work with annoyed his son at the matrix because he kept laughing and telling him "I work with that guy!"

    Andy Dick

When we were newlyweds, my wife thought that I looked like him because we wore the same hair style and glasses.

.oO( might have something to do with our noses looking the same too )

Okay, now you can judge for yourselves.

      Me & Andy Dick

The glasses in the pictures aren't the same but I couldn't find the right photo.

Since I have yet to see anyone who looks like me, and inevitably, everyone says "Well, this girl I made up told me I look like (insert attractive person here)" I'll say that I would like to be played by a talking 1984 Buick voiced by Johnny Cash.

I've been told by blind people that I look like Ed Norton (I really don't....at all) but that name has been taken

Another person I can think of with my body type (hair color, facial hair, and build) is Brad Pitt, but that has been taken

I'd like to say Keanu Reeves but that has been taken, and he doesn't look like me

I guess the only person that I could think to play me that would have to be Brendan Fehr. You can't link to this site

I like being tall, dark and handsome. How about Pierce Brosnin? (OK, OK, Jim Carrey is probably more accurate...)
Re: Perl Monks: The Movie

Ewan McGregor. Despite being taller than he and I'm more Welsh than Scottish, I'm sure he could pull off a fine characterisation. Failing that Al Pacino .... if only I was that cool :)

Angelina Jolie! She played a starring role in "Hackers."

Or, for those who think the actor has to look like the person they are playing, Ryan Phillipe, who played the starring role in "Antitrust."

Adrien Brody, even though we don't look quite alike. Having a time machine I would get James Stewart.

I should also mention "Beat" Takeshi as we must have a connection: he was born exactly 30 years before me...
