in thread I've got a new reply -- from myself!

Why are you thanking yourself?

If you reply to a reply, you shouldn't get the notification.

$ echo '$0 & $0 &' > foo; chmod a+x foo; foo;

Replies are listed 'Best First'.

    Aha, I see.

    I normally reply, in a general way, at the top level -- to thank more than one person -- I don't reply at individual level unless I'm thanking that specific person.

    I'm a victim of my own politeness...
