"comment on" easy to miss

Hi, click on the text above (Suggested UI change) or the rest of this entry will make little sense.

Every time I come to want to comment on a top level post (as opposed to a reply) I scoot down to the bottom of the page looking for the "comment on this link" link.

It is only after doing this that I come up to the top and see that it is right there at the top of the table. I think what is happening is that my brain ignores the link assuming that it is just a title, or that I read it as "comments on" which would make it a title.

The links to use for commenting on comments are beutifully clear. Could we have a seperate link floating just after the text of the post which is easier to spot? I know I will get used to it in the end but it will still catch others out. It would also be nice to have a link at the bottom of the page, but that could be confusing.

Link could be here?

I believe the layout of the page works as-is. When you wish to comment on a root node, you may do so by clicking the link immediately after the writeup. This follows a logical flow; read the post, then comment (if you desire). Placing the link just inside the post interferes with the post's content.

You can change the appearance of the table headers through CSS. This feature can be found in your personal settings.

Granted that on the page which lists all the questions the position of the comment link is clear. However I always make a point of reading other comments first to avoid repetition. It is here that there is an unclear link.

To see the layout I am reffering to look here.

I have inserted the suggested link position into my post to demonstrate it's possibly clearer position on this page only - sorry for the confusion.

Hmmm, I'm not sure what you've managed to do here, but from my browser (Mozilla 1.3a) you have managed to eat the title, all of the log grinder out | grinder | The Monastery Gates | Super Search | ... | Offering Plate section and even the ( print, xml ) Suggested UI change. by EvdB.

Even viewing the source doesn't help me figure out what's going on, so I'm afraid to say I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about :)

<update> Curiouser and curiouser. Now that I have replied to your node I now see all that was missing... but I still don't see anything out of the ordinary. Can you explain a bit more please? (I'm not going nuts, I've just taken a screenshot of the original node as it was sitting in another Mozilla tab). Methinks that whatever you are doing probably isn't very portable...</update>

Sorry - I didn't mean to muck around with the layout at all... Really not sure what is happening for you...

What I was reffering to is the layout of the page as you see it now (ie with my original post at the top and the comments following it). I don't think that the comment link is very clear (for me it has a dark blue background and is just above your comment).
