I upvoted almost every node of yours in this thread including the original post. Reviews of modules uploaded to CPAN are useful. They are helpful when the module in question is a good one and they should be considered necessary when the module is a bad one.

You provided an educated and thorough review of Handy::Dandy as a service to the community and I, for one, am grateful.

Frankly, I don't feel that there was anything out of line about your tone throughout the majority of your review, however, I do disagree with you on one point. You said of yourself in some node in this thread that you couldn't read this module's code and stay friendly. I believe you could have. The only part of your review which seemed to be an unnecessary judgement of the coder rather than an experienced judgement of the code was when you called the author a "fool." Had you avoided that one simple insult and not warned us that you were going to be flaming, your review would have been nothing more than a well-deserved "thumbs down" from a capable critic.

My suggestion for the next time you review a poorly written module would be to wait half an hour or so and then go back and remove personal insults and apologies for being negative before clicking submit. In short, don't get personal about it and don't work on the assumption that others will.
