Anon Posting Looks Like You Wrote It

on Dec 14, 2002 at 18:38 UTC ( [id://219877]=monkdiscuss: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

Just thought I would mention this, but when I was looking at this node, I saw up at the top
by you!!! on Dec 13, 2002 at 21:12 (print, xml)
I thought that that was odd considering it was actually written up by the omnipresent Anonymous Monk. Then, I noticed that every AM posting indicated that I wrote it. I imagine I am not the only person this happens to.

It's no big deal. I just thought I would point it out.

Are you sure you were'nt inadvertantly logged out at the time you saw the posts? If I log out and view anonymonk posts they say you!!!

Yeah, we should probably fix that since many anonymous visitors will read nodes by other anonymous visitors.

While checking into this, I noticed that Perl Monks User Search shows AnonyMonk the reputation of his/her "own" nodes. We should fix that too (note that AnonyMonk can't see the reputation when looking at an anonymous node directly).

Update: I've fixed both of these.

I don't consider that a fix. I consider it breakage. As an anonymous monk I liked knowing what people thought of my posts when they didn't give a fig about who I was, thankyouverymuch.

Oddly enough, I don't find that to be the case. Hrm... guess now we know who that everpresent Anonymous Monk is! :-P
