If you are truely asking for a random element, then you can not add restictions. Otherwise it is not random! Actually, what's being asked for here is called "random sampling without replacement" as opposed to "random sampling with replacement." That doesn't mean it's not random. Any good introductory statistics book will provide the details. laughingboy	[reply]
