It sounds to me like the job is ideally suited for a shell script.Possibly. I didn't completely discount such an idea. However using make or MakeMaker I guess could give me some other niceness, like only changing files that are older than the distribution ones, giving me different install targets for different parts of the system etc. I didn't think this wheel was worth re-inventing.
