Brethren, we use Emacs here at our company for all Perl projects. The decision for it was kind of Top-Down, made by the "pointy-haired-boss" and yet there is still one developer that secretly uses vi. :-) The reason for Emacs is mainly because of the availability of folding. And because of the unicode support it provides. Fairly good syntax-highlighting and indentation as well as CVS interaction make it a acceptable solution for developmnet under the Linux OS. JM2c. YMMV.
