in reply to Searching a whole directory of databases

I wonder if it would be possible for my script to just look into the searchdbs folder and open each database inside of it rather than tweaking my script each

Yes it would be possible.

I guess I am taken-a-back a little at your question, since this is kind of trivial.

Looking forward to your help... Thanks as always...:-)

I'm always glad to help, even if it is just to point people to the incredible How to RTFM guide, after reading which, you'll know how to fish, so I beg of you, please go read How to RTFM now, so that you can find the answers for yourself (takes a lot less time).

QandASection: directories
How do I recursively process every file in a given directory?
How do I read a directory?

opendir
glob

P.S.
I don't usually reccomend people buy books to learn perl, but maybe you ought to invest in one.
