• Born in Chicago, Illinois, so they say. Cook County lost my birth certificate, you see. Therefore the persistent rumor that I was born on Mars.

• Grew up in Aurora, Colorado, a high, dry place that is also the 5th biggest city in Colorado.

• Went to college #1 in Oberlin, Ohio, studied Japanese.

• Bummed around Rochester, New York, for many years. Accumulated property, relationships, habits, experience. worked as baker, substitute high school math teacher, home renovation hack, warehouse goombah, volunteer child care worker, typist, data entry droid, landlord, volunteer alternative newspaper paste-up tech and ad artist.

• Went to college sub 2; Empire State College, Genesee Valley Regional Center, studied math and computer science.

• 2 kids, 1 wife, but steadily getting more single. Oh well.

• Eventually started working for the University of Rochester as programmer, now Unix sysadmin.

• Wrote some good programs. Need to get more of them in the public domain. Some are even in Perl.

• But what the heck is the meaning of life?
