Obviously you didn't read my entire post:
I'm not overly concerned if the posts are somewhat off-topic, as I believe that overall, the Meditations maintains a reasonable balance in that respect.
We do have moderation techniques in place to handle these situations. Instead of whining about it, get a login, earn some XP and use it if the situation bothers you so much. I do.

And you obviously haven't read, or understood, the message in my posts. Duplicatation of other site's content is simply not a good thing to do. One possible solution is to re-instate the PerlNews heading but disallow anything but top-level posts so at least the discussions of linked articles will take place where they belong (on the linked site) and not split across sites. BTW, I do have a login and have had saint status for quite some time. I have my reasons for posting anonymously.
I have my reasons for posting anonymously.
Obviously those reasons are so that you can downvote honest upfront monks without fear of retribution (not that I care, or would be as petty as you and retaliate with --s). You are truly a coward indeed! Exact duplication is one thing, but I seriously doubt that the discussions generated by our own monks is the same. Besides, I care what they think, not what use.perl.org or /. users think.

      --Jim

P.S. I wonder if you are even brave enough to /msg me and tell me who you really are? Update: on second thought please don't, I'd rather believe you're lying about Saint status and would rather skip the potential disillusionment.

Please. If I logged in right now I'd still have 40 votes left today the same as nearly every other day for some time now. Of course, there is no way to actually prove that to you.

Now, back to a real discussion. Many of the people here have accounts on use.perl so saying you only care what people here think is a wrongheaded. Also, no the duplication would not be exactly the same, which is part of my point. You seem happy to only see the portion of discussion that occurs here. I am more interested in seeing the entire discussion. When you post a link to something on use.perl and start a discussion here then you've split the discussion. This doesn't just mean that people like myself now have to track the discussion on both sites, it is practically guaranteed that some of the people who comment here won't have even read the original item on use.perl, or followed the entire discussion over there before posting their own ill-informed comments here. And just as certainly, people there won't be following the discussion here.

I'm sure you understand the problems with reinventing the wheel. Can't you apply the same logic here? Once the discussion is fractured people wind up raising points or questions that have already been addressed in the other forum, and others waste time addressing those same points. You say you have limited time. I ask why you would want to encourage a practice that will inevitably wind up wasting your precious time, even if you are never aware of the fact because you don't follow the discussion anywhere but here.
