in thread Posting Unrelated News Items

I don't visit use.perl.org or /. because as others have already mentioned, I don't have that much time. I do however frequent PM and I not only want to hear about events/topics that are discussed elsewhere, I want to know what this community has to say about them.

I'm not overly concerned if the posts are somewhat off-topic, as I believe that overall, the Meditations maintains a reasonable balance in that respect.

So you wouldn't mind if I just started posting links to every thing I might find interesting on /. or use.perl or dev.perl.org or p5p or fwp, etc.? I mean, you want to know about them right? Why don't we just take it to the next logical step and portalize perlmonks to subsume all those other sites. perlmonks.OT-portal.org, yeah, that's the ticket.
Obviously you didn't read my entire post:

We do have moderation techniques in place to handle these situations. Instead of whining about it, get a login, earn some XP and use it if the situation bothers you so much. I do.

And you obviously haven't read, or understood, the message in my posts. Duplicatation of other site's content is simply not a good thing to do. One possible solution is to re-instate the PerlNews heading but disallow anything but top-level posts so at least the discussions of linked articles will take place where they belong (on the linked site) and not split across sites. BTW, I do have a login and have had saint status for quite some time. I have my reasons for posting anonymously.
