The new Perl Review is out

by petdance (Parson)
on Apr 02, 2002 at 21:03 UTC ( [id://156112]=perlmeditation: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

The latest issue of the Perl Review has been released, and it's absolutely free. Visit http://www.theperlreview.com/ for all the goodies.

And, while you're there, consider how you could contribute to this fine magazine. Perhaps an article on testing or debugging for our upcoming special issue? Maybe there's a review of a new book? Don't make us write everything ourselves!

xoxo,
Andy

Visit http://www.theperlreview.com/ for all the goodies.

What's this? The Python Review? At least you can keep the initials. April fools day is over!

I don't mind a few pages about the competition, and I realise Python and Perl have some things in common, but come on - 19 of the 32 pages are about Python!

If you create a magazine with Perl in the name, I think 40% non-Python content is a very bad score.

I hope the next issue will have some non-golf Perl content.

Well, we released it yesterday. I just didn't say anything about it here until today. I can't be everywhere. :-)

Next issue we're going to have an article on Perl & flex, and the issue after that is prob'ly going to be code-heavy on testing and debugging.

      <SallyStruthers>But there's more to do. Won't you help?</SallyStruthers>

apart from the fact that it offended my good taste

I don't understand why he [Van Rossum] had to insult perl in an electronic-magazine devoted to Perl? I assume the interview and everything wasn't an April Fool's joke.

    I don't think I can contribute... I don't know anything about Python. I thought April Fool's was yesterday! :-)

I wanted to think about this a bit before I shot off my mouth; did so, and -

I'm not interested in Python or other languages being covered in such publications. Maybe it's short-sighted of me, or displays some other arrogance, but I couldn't get interested.

I still have my interests in: learning Perl, learning about perl, hearing about Perl personalities, learning about the various Perl-related happenings in all groups, reading Perl success stories, etc...
