Out here in Utah, we have something called "fry sauce" (which was new to me when I moved here, since I'm from Michigan)... it's ketchup mixed with mayonnaise. Nowadays I get fry sauce whenever I can, but when it's not available, ketchup is a fine substitute.

Yeah yeah yeah, heard it when I was there.
And if the mayo wasn't weird enough it's
also pretty common to eat them in a thin
spaghetti sauce.
I miss french fry sandwiches though,
"pain tzigane avec americain fort".
A baguette filled with fries, some fried thing,
and a sauce in this case "americain fort",
a slightly spicy thousand island-ish
sauce sans relish. and then they give you a
small flat plastic pitchfork no larger than a silver
dollar to eat it with.
