While troubleshooting an internet access problem with my ISP, I figured out that their DNS server must be borked. I was able to get to exactly one site (out of 20 or so of my regular haunts) and discovered that it was the only IP/host pair entry in my Win98 \Windows\hosts file.

In my desperation to get back to PM--and being too impatient/lazy to add a second DNS entry in my network settings--I thought Hell, I'll just add an IP/host pair for PM. The ISP problem was probably just temporary anyhow.

That sorta worked and got me a bit farther but of course then I got stuck on adfu.blockstackers.com. Ok, another IP/host pair for that.

Then came the "huh?". Now I got stuck on oostendorp.org. Why does every page access to PM require an access to oostendorp.org? I now know more about Rob Oostendorp and his cheatin' girlfriend than I really care to know (there must be a CW hit in there somewhere).

Can someone enlighten me? I would've never stumbled onto this if Comcast hadn't had DNS problems. Could one of the PMdev group check into this? Apologies in advance if this turns out to be a D'oh!.

At least some of the banner ad images are loading from that site.

Apologies for bitching about my ex-girlfriend on oostendorp.org -- You have to remember that it was pretty traumatic for a little while, and I felt the only was to express myself was through oostendorp.org. The funny thing is, I didn't know people actually looked at the website :)

Again, sorry you had to read all that bullshit, I'll be taking the ranting down tonight and replacing it with not so annoying material. Now to some answers...

Why does PM use banners from oostendorp.org?
Whether you know it or not, adfu is the ad system used by PM. I unfortunately don't have SSH access to adfu's core system (I only have admin priv's on the web form). Therefore, I put the ads on my own website and use a href link when displaying the ads on PM. I realize this is a problem and a pain in the arse, but remember that adfu is really unstable (Did you know: Microsoft Word thinks Adfu is the incorrect spelling for awful?? heh). As posted above, since the ads are on oostendorp.org, at least you can see something besides a red x when I'm playing in adfu.
