<p>
The following emerged after a discussion on
<tt>#perlmonks</tt> after [Petruchio], [boo_radley] and [ar0n|I]
were playing with the idea of a Perl Monks MUD.
</p>
<p>
The really cool part about this is that it's actually
quite feasible. All we need is some extra XML feeds into
PM and a Perl Monks MUD/CLI is possible. Needless to say,
[pmdev|we]'re looking into it.

Welcome to Perl Monks MUD, version 1.0
[Anonymous Monk]> login ar0n p455w0rd
You're logged in now.
You find yourself standing just inside the Monastery Gates, when you see
what appears to be a cup with a little handwritten cardboard sign next to
it, that says "Donations gladly accepted." You notice the cup is empty.
> donate $100
You take out your wallet and discover that you only have 3 dollars.
> donate $3.00
You put 3 dollars into the cup.
> listen
You hear a bird chirping. The wind is blowing through the trees and they
make a nice soothing sound. You close your eyes to focus on the sound for
a few moments when in the distance you hear some muffled voices. They
appear to be coming from the chatterbox.
> go to chatterbox
As you approach the chatterbox, the voices grow louder and more distinct.
It appears to be an argument, but you can't be sure without listening more
closely.
> listen to chatterbox
<Ducati> Is there a history for the chatterbox ... I need to find an old msg sent to me in the CB ... I was refed to a node and I forget what it was ....
<chipmunk> Ducati: no, there is no archive of CB chatter, sorry.
<chipmunk> if you remember anything about the node you might find it with [Super Search]
<Ducati> ok ... at the risk of being flamed (I did do a search) .. where can I find out what $_ and $_[0] does ??
<tye> [Ducati], yes, there are lots of CB archives, but they are all in the hands of people afraid to publicly admit that they have been archiving
<Ducati> [tye] Um .. ok ...
<Albannach> /me hopes nobody has been archiving /msgs to [Ducati]
<Ducati> [chipmunk] It described $_ I searched on that and got some post by AM
<lemming> [tye] Does leaving the java CB on overnite count?
<Ducati> [Albannach] Why is that ??
^C
You decide you've heard enough and make an attempt to ignore the chatterbox.
> go to newest nodes
You are in Newest Nodes.
> look
You look around and see 3 nodes (162314, 162316, 162317) by an Anonymous Monk,
all of which have the same title. Another node (162331) by an Anonymous Monk
appears to be using <pre> tags for code instead of <code>
There is a Meditation (162346) written by the revered [Ovid], labeled Off Topic.
In Discussions, you see a node (162308) titled 'regarding server downtimes' by El
Presidente himself, [vroom].
> consider delete 162314
You consider node 162314 for deletion.
> edit node 162314 title =~ s/^/(duplicate) /;
The title of node 162314 is now:
(duplicate) FILE UPLOAD???/
> consider delete 162316
You consider node 162316 for deletion.
> edit node 162314 title =~ s/^/(duplicate) /;
The title of node 162314 is now:
(duplicate) FILE UPLOAD???/
> edit node 162331 content =~ s!<(/?)pre>!<$1code>!gi;
2 substitutions on node 162331.
> go to 162308
Timed out while attempting to connect to adfu.blockstackers.com
> sigh
You sigh a breath of discontent
> quit
