More Fun with PM Center of Mass

by Masem (Monsignor)

With JC's help, I've been able to get a slight twist in the The Center of PerlMonk Mass code; now I have weighted the results based on a users' XP (excluding the large weighting that vroom would possibly contribut). Surprisingly or not, this only causes the center of mass to shift slightly (~100mi) towards Seattle. There's some changes as well for the North American subset and European subset as well.

Because we get new users all the time, I've cron'ed these center of mass script to run twice a month (while the PM Other Users Locator is still running every 10 minutes).

You can see these maps at http://mneylon.masemware.com/pm/. I've fixed the graphics to be jpgs instead of the much larger pngs that were causing download problems.

It's not what you know, but knowing how to find it if you don't know that's important

    You should check out the example longitude, latitude on the map page
    <!-- location:latitude=+34.06.00,longitude=-75.80.00 -->

    'cause it's in an illegal format. From the stats help page
    The minutes and seconds values must be >= 0 and <= 59

    Anyway i'd like to suggest Maporama (no registration required) to get your longitude and latitude, keeping attention to convert minutes and seconds to base 60.

    But not toward Redmond, I hope?

      But not toward Redmond, I hope?

      From the looks of it, the center of mass has shifted into a cornfield in Iowa, where an unseen voice whispers "If you post it, they will vote."
