Check out the mugs on Zecho's homenode. He got some samples printed up and we'll be working towards making them available to you all.

If you want to place a tentative order so we can get a better estimate of the numbers to order. /msg me with thes colors and quantities you desire.

Hey everyone, I posted this node a while back, and while waiting for replies, I went ahead and had these mugs printed. As for the syntax on the mugs, take a look at merlyn's explanation here RE: JAPH

The colors are a bit hard to see in the photos, they are actually a bit darker. Hunter green, navy blue (almost black), white and marroon. The lettering is a really bright sort of metallic gold. When I get a chance, I will get some better pictures up.

    UPDATE:

    • Yes the lettering is very shiny
    • Yes the mugs are dishwasher and microwave safe
    • Yes they are guaranteed not to rust, warp or affect the ozone layer
    • No I do not as yet know the chemical composition of the ceramic
    • I will post an update when I get the lab results back
    • The syntax used was traced back through the history books and was found to conform to the standards set forth by the original wizard who coined the term (including the comma)
Feel free to /msg me with any questions :)
Hm. Why not go with the code form, not the output form?

The format that merlyn uses in RE: JAPH is probably the way I'd go.

Zero PerlMonks coffee mugs for me

You can always do like I do and eat ice cream out of your coffee mugs. I don't drink coffee but I've got a metric buttload of ice cream mugs sitting around my house. :)
*still laughing* I had to ++ this if only because the thought of a 'metric buttload' of icecream put me into hysterical laughter.

Also - best of both worlds - a metric buttload of 'Coffee Nut Flavored' icecream!

        *G*
I have to agree with growlf on this: A "metric buttload" is a unit of measurement of which I was not aware, but clearly should have been. Can we get some more detail on this? Is this a unit of volume or mass? Is the NIST aware of it and do they have a gold standard for it in their possession? (That's quite a mental image, isn't it?)

Well, depending upon the price, I probably can't afford a metric buttload of PM mugs, but if you will sell them in other units sign me up for a metric centibuttload of them.

Whose butt is the standard for a metric buttload?
        TIA

Anything on the other side? The mug looks very good, especially since I have large hands and it looks like the handle can accommodate all of my fingers (all 5 of 'em! ;)). Seriously, that's a pet-peeve of mine - mugs with tiny handles that force you to explain why your pinky is hanging out to amused co-workers.

Hmm... from the pictures on Zecho's homenode, it looks like the printing is in metallic ink. I personally wouldn't buy one if that's the only option.
  • The metallization sometimes comes off in the dishwasher
  • The metallization often does not get along with the microwave
  • Please consider a white mug with Plain Ol' Black ink or make sure that the metallization is indeed microwave safe! Look here more info on fun with microwaves ;-)

I only have 1 mug and it's broken ;(it's a simpsons mug), so I want 4 (like the 4 in the picture). But since I'm paranoid, I'll have to get mine from blakem (he was kind enough to agree; we'll trade at a silicon valley perlmongers meeting).

And this poll follows very nicely after the caffeine one. I suspect marketing!

And of course I will be ordering a couple. I feel compelled.

    I would _have_ to buy 3 :)
    • 1 for me at home
    • 1 for me at work
    • 1 for my g/f, she has a ccoffee mugs collection and this one will be great for her collection

I hope the mugs are easily available in my part of the world. Otherwise, I'll have to keep drinking coffee out of the kettle.

I want one... I really need a new beverage container, since I don't think I've washed the cup I'm using to achieve my caffeine fix...

Make something idiot proof and they'll make a better idiot...

I'm wondering if this is a legally binding vote? =). Put me down for one *and* I will actually buy it for real! Oh wait, you mean you want real cash?! I have some of that stuff!!!

I would prefer a beer stein or super sized shot glass over the coffee mug. For some reason my code is more comprehendable when drinking the appropriate liquids from these types of containers.

    This could explain my obfuscation.

I really like the mug design, but I was wondering if there is more text on the other side of the mug - "Just another Perl hacker" is followed by a comma, which made me think that. Should that comma be a period?
      or a semi-colon? ;)

2: one for home and one for work

as for gifts...not sure, the recipient of my gift of "vi reference mug" seemed to be more worried about me than actually appreciative. :-)

Two. One black, one green! I'm a little confused by the trailing comma, but I'll get over it.

I must say that after seeing the pic of the mugs on zecho's home node, I have the incling to buy one of each color. You can never have just one.

IŽll get 2 or 3 coffee mugs, 1 at home, the other at work and the last one just to show it my well-known and for a backup for some eventuality.

God help me always to see the other face of the coin. And prevent me from accusing of betrayal those who don't think just as I do.

I would like to see plastic (similar to the ones from amazon.com) or metal ones so I can take them client sites without the fear of breaking them. I will register for two ceramic ones, though.

Is it possible to upgrade these COFFEE mugs to be used with TEA?
