I finally learned proper Scala through work and it's been a really great experience after a bit of a learning curve. I don't do Perl anymore, and to be frank it would take something special to get me back into it, but a lot of the good parts of Scala remind me of the good parts of Perl. It's a really nice language despite what I've heard previously about it. Three thousand years of beautiful tradition, from Moses to Sandy Koufax, you're god damn right I'm living in the fucking past
