in thread Why should any one use/learn Perl 6?

I can hardly remember seeing any "just try it, you'll like it" here.

I remember more than a few "People who don't like it have never tried it!" claims. I remember (especially on the Perl subreddit) one user who posted walls of text haranguing people to try Rakudo who had is own troll following him around mocking him. We eventually banned the troll.

Gish gallops aren't against the rules.

I talked about the Monastery, I don't follow reddit.

Not sure how bad habits in a foreign board should be related to our own ecosystem.

    update

Neither sure why you mention gish gallops?

I believe (but don't care enough to verify) that both people to whom I refer post(ed) here. I have no intention to call either of them out, because there's no value in doing so.

My point is only that I believe that toxic Rakudo advocacy is counterproductive and exacerbates some of the response.

Do you mean to say that any mention of Perl 6 here is toxic?

Declaring Perl 6 off topic would harm the foundation of the monastery.

And I see far more irrationality and vitriol from the Perl 6 haters* than from the lovers.

Please keep in mind that 5 already copied 6 features, like Moose.

... and that you used to be one of the main cheerleaders of this project.
