Why aren't you using Google::API::Client?

I stumbled on this module a while ago. It has some rough edges and the docs aren't the greatest, but I've found it incredibly useful.

It uses the Google Discovery API to interact with any of their services.

So why isn't it more popular? Is there another module that serves this purpose better?

    So why isn't it more popular?

    How did you find out it is not popular? Did Google Discovery tell you through their services?

    I don't (and hopefully don't have to) use Google Services programmatically, so that's why I haven't heard of that module until now.
    So that's why it is unpopular with me.
    But thanks for the hint; I might have to dig through that the day I have to interact with ol'DataLeviathan Google more than today.

    perl -le'print map{pack c,($-++?1:13)+ord}split//,ESEL'

      Popularity measures are universally flawed. However, I'd suggest that the rating and the lack of plussers are as good an indication as any. At least the repo has a few stars.

      Naw, I inferred it from the fact that the author's repo has a couple unreleased bug fixes from May of '15.

      I rediscovered one of the bugs over the weekend, so I was encouraging the author to make a new release, and I thought I'd post here to see if we can generate some more interest.

      Hope he's not going to abandon it because it's really nice to have the same interface across multiple G services.

        I've yet to find a need to use Google at an API level beyond their OAuth mess but unincorporated fixes just means Google::API::Client isn't popular with the author.

      AMEN! and + +.
